The operators have created the subsidy model to their own detriment. You need to call up customer serives after the contract has expired and explain that you are now looking round for a new deal. Ask what they can do for you and normally in exchange for signing up to another 12 month contract, you get the latest phone and tarrif deal. Works every time!
