the problem is that he doesn't seem to have any principles. on one hand he attacks asa for supressing free speech, the next he censors and locks threads.
in one thread he attacks me for calling somebody with learning difficulties mental, then proceeds to do the same thing just days later.
Dr L, give the guy a chance.
When someone becomes a mod, they feel as if they've got to be on their best behaviour for some reason for the first few days. During that time, you try to balance your old persona with the persona you think you should have now. You then remember you got the mod position because of who you are and just behave normally again.
The fella should have a chance to make the transition without such scrutiny.
I find all these attacks on his controversial statements in the past a tad hypocritical as well. Most of us have shot our mouths off at some point here on and TVF - it's part of what gives this place its charm.

it's not that. it's the hypocracy of lecturing us on doing it.

Hmm!!! Something i was thinking about myself Sput.
I know i would find it irresistable having lots of new devices to play with that only the moderators and admin have access too. If i was thrown into that role, the site will end up crashing.
The thing i like about this place is anything goes. No such thing as political correctness here. It's like a release from the real world. Don't get me wrong i'm no racist but it is quite refreshing to read some of the controversial views of members on here, and how topics go completely off topic.
It's one of the most entertaining forums i visit.
It really doesn't need much maintenace or management at all. It kind of ticks along quite nicely.

i don't understand how it is hypocritical since most of what is being attacked has happend within the last few hours. indeed, you yourself have highlighted his own hypocrisy over a couple of posts he made about slideshow ed.
perhaps he should be giving other people the chance, rather than locking/deleting/editing threads because he can.

Speaking as someone who has just been given lots of new buttons to play with on another forum, you have to hit a few of them now again to make sure they work!
Anyway, back to discussing Jamez's good looks and heterosexual persuasions...
1. He's has nice eyes.
2. He has a nice smile.
3. He knocked that bloke back the other week.
4. He is sometimes known to discuss football, cars, and breasts.

Dr L, I am not denying Jamez's hypocrisy at all - in fact, in the post you originally quoted from, I pretty much agreed with you. All I said was you should give him a chance to adjust to his new role.
Sideshow Ed, whoever he is, is an attack dog whose sights were solely set on Jamez. I can understand the guy's sensitivity at the moment.
All I am asking is that you should give him a few days to get used to his role. Remember that anti-Muslim thread of yours I locked? Even though I profoundly disagree with what you said, I do regret locking it because it went against the spirit of the place. It took a little time for me to get used to the "power", but I did and I think you'll agree that Martin's decision to make me moderator was one of his more inspired decisions.

Do you think he may be just a little bi-curious?
It's fashionable, you know.

I will not discuss any part of my sexuality on this site, nor any other private aspects or events in my life because I have done in the past, and such information has been used viciously against me.
It's a shame that some people on this site take a rather un-nerving pleasure in digging out every single scrap of information they can about me. It's really pathetic, but I have learnt my lesson.
As for Dr Lobster now re-surfacing after being a rather quiet member since the summer (the absence of Dr Lobster and the prominence of Sideshow/Dusty/Bones... is it just a coincidence?), I think to make such a song and dance about the fact that I moved ONE thread, is a clear demonstration of the mans pettiness.
