Apart from the small matter of my half-crown, I don't really mind whether Mr Kennedy stays or goes.

As to Mr Wells, I DO have a DEFINITE preference.

I've got a funny feeling, NOT, Row.

I just reckon our Charlie-boy will hang on and survive.

Fancy a small, half-crown wager?
Leadership contest now Harvey-boy!

Yes, just watched the statement in full.

I'm still sticking with my half-crown for the moment.

i actually like charles kennedy i think this highlights that he's human and fallible. even if he was to be pushed from the leadership, who would succeed him?

simon hughes is the only person which springs to mind and i'm not sure i know enough about him or what he stands for to say whether i think he'd make a good leader or not.

Agree that Simon Hughes is probably the only prominant person likely to become next leader, if Kennedy loses. But I firmly believe he is the Mandelson of the Lib Dems. There's something very sinester about him, and it wouldn't be over the moon if he took over.

Now, THAT would make an interesting General Election.

Peter Mandleson versus Michael Howard versus Simon Hughes.

what i can't understand is why menzies campbell was tipped to be the favourite for the job (and he has since said he won't stand against kennedy)... not only is he an fossil but seems to have less appeal than ids does.

it`seems as though the appointment of david cameron has rattled a few cages.

for instance, the in the news of the world:
THE Labour Party has banned
Tony Blair from campaigning in May's local elections.

Labour bosses fear the party could be wiped out in the poll by a Tory party rejuvenated by youthful new leader David Cameron.

They believe the unpopular Prime Minister is their biggest liability. So they will call on his rivals "Red Ken" Livingstone and Chancellor Gordon Brown to avert a disaster.
this really could be a year of political change. i'm suprised blair hasn't gone he looks more tired everytime i see him. surely he has to go this year?

I'm sorry - at which point did you stop quoting the News of the World there?
