Well, yes. None of those things will do you any good. They may well be bad for you. Smoking is without doubt bad for you.

I was trying (not very well) to make the point that passive smoke is really the least of my worries.

I don't care if it shortens my lifespan - life is crap after 60 anyway. I'd rather die younger with all my faculties intact than spend my final years pissing and shitting myself in some old folks home watching Countdown and eating custard creams.
So, you'd prefer to die in your late thirties, or maybe your forties or fifties, screaming in agony from the unbearable pain caused by the lung cancer that's spread uncontrollably all through your bones and brain would you? And you really wouldn't mind leaving behind any partner and children you might have by then? My, you're hard - or possibly just very young and very, very stupid.

Broughton, as well intentioned as your comments are, it really isn't your place to chastise smokers for their life choices.
One could equally comment on those who drink, those who overeat or any number of other deleterious habits or patterened behaviours.
Those who willfully take years off their life by whatever means make up a giant portion of humanity.
I am one, through accident, choice and stupidity; and I pay the price. Do I leave behind greiving relatives and friends? The only honest answer I can give to that is: If I'm lucky.
Ultimately, I don't want my decisions to rub off on others - so if there must be a ban on smoking then let there be one.
But once that is in place, might we see an end to the condecendingly preachy overtones from you pink-lungs?
I might add, some of *you* stink of bad breath and body odour - but I wouldn't dream of saying it.

I'd just be miffed enough at how someone could muster the capacity to scream when their lungs are fucked.

I don't plan to ever have kids.
And, if ever I got to the point of pain - I would do the honourable thing and overdose on painkillers.

The funny thing is, I never sneezed or had as much sinus pain and sore throats as a smoker as I do now. Oh and do'nt forget the weight gain.
