Smoking ban introduced in NI

I quit smoking 2 years ago, but as i live next to the most radioactive sea in the world, cycle through a fug of traffic pollution, injest god knows how many harmful additives, then go home to my carcenagenic flame retardent sofa, should i really be concerned about a bit of ciggy smoke?

Well, yes. None of those things will do you any good. They may well be bad for you. Smoking is without doubt bad for you.

I was trying (not very well) to make the point that passive smoke is really the least of my worries.

Broughton, as well intentioned as your comments are, it really isn't your place to chastise smokers for their life choices.

One could equally comment on those who drink, those who overeat or any number of other deleterious habits or patterened behaviours.

Those who willfully take years off their life by whatever means make up a giant portion of humanity.

I am one, through accident, choice and stupidity; and I pay the price. Do I leave behind greiving relatives and friends? The only honest answer I can give to that is: If I'm lucky.

Ultimately, I don't want my decisions to rub off on others - so if there must be a ban on smoking then let there be one.

But once that is in place, might we see an end to the condecendingly preachy overtones from you pink-lungs?

I might add, some of *you* stink of bad breath and body odour - but I wouldn't dream of saying it.

And, if ever I got to the point of pain - I would do the honourable thing and overdose on painkillers.

You seam to be frightened of getting old Jamez,. But smoking will dramatically increase your rate of aging.

The funny thing is, I never sneezed or had as much sinus pain and sore throats as a smoker as I do now. Oh and do'nt forget the weight gain.
