Going back to the original question, do what I do, and that's a freelance Graphic Designer / Mac Operator.
£25 a hour = an easy 4 grand a month (or much more if you're willing to do overtime) just for pressing a few buttons. Or get £30+ an hour if you work in a major city centre.
If you've got a natural eye for design it's a piece of piss to learn the software. Go through a specialist agency at first to build up a client list, but ditch the agency at the earliest opportunity as they'll fleece you for nearly half your earnings.
It just gets so bloody boring, but what doesn't?
