Last thing I bought? McDonalds Chicken Nugget meal. £3-something.
32.27 litres of Unleaded 95 @ 90.9ppl. £29.33.
Wow, and to think I felt financially raped after paying 87.9ppl for unleaded today. Hard to believe that when I passed my driving test in 2001 the garages near me were considered a complete rip off if they charged more than 65ppl (awaits Mr Harvey to tell us about how he could fill his first car up for a pound ;) ) Incidentally, my travels today took me past a garage where diesel was cheaper than petrol - something I've never seen before.

There's a much wider range than normal at present, if I'm not mistaken.

Round here, unleaded ranges from 88.9 at Tesco to 95.9 at a rural Murco, that's ignoring the famous "most expensive in the country", Dean's, over in Marlborough, where it's probably now over £1.20 a litre if they're running to form.

And yes, Chris, four gallons at 4/11d a gallon was 19/8d and you gave the attendant the 4d change as a tip!

90.9 appears to be the current standard price. I think Tescos is 89.9. Home heating oil is currently £297 for 900 litres. When I bought my first house a little under 7 years ago, the same amount was less than £90.

I've just cycled 10 miles (there and back) to Tesco, to purchase Value (sorry) bin liners, and Harpic toilet cleaner.

on the subject of fuel, i happened to notice shells diesel extra (i think they don’t sell "regular" shell diesel around here anymore) was slightly cheaper than what i've been paying for "regular" diesel at asda. i guess i'd fallen into the trap of thinking supermarket fuel was always cheaper!

Just bought two packets of ciggies and two Volvic drinks (on special offer) from the local Shell garage.

I don't really look at the price a litre, if i need fuel i just stop at the next nearest petrol station en-route. My local petrol station closed down not long after weights and measures ( or whatever they're called in the fuel trade) paid a visit.
I look for the petrol that is 97 octane i think it's the super unleaded.

Some of us have higher standards. Buy Smartprice.

I'm actually a regular Sainsbury's shopper, so until recently have not really indulged in all of this ''basics'' or ''value'' lark, but it seems rather fun.

Now Sainsbury's have got themselves into shape (finally) with little stickers telling me they are the same/cheaper than Tescos on most of their products, and these lovely orange ''basics'' products all over the place, I might indulge myself more frequently.

I was particularly curious about Sainsbury's basics toilet roll. I really can't imagine it...

You don't want chips from around here, unless you like chewing on razor blades.
You don't like this person very much then Lee :D

Oh, and the last thing i bought myself was 20 superkings £ 4.86.
Her mouth is made of iron - the excess oil from the chips not only did her good but also those that had to listen to her singing.

It'll be very similar to Tesco Value toilet roll, working out at 10p per roll, if you buy the pack of sixteen.

You'll need to use twice as much as, say Andrex, so give it a THEORETICAL price of 20p per roll, then compare it with the original Andrex at 40p per roll.

FAR, FAR better value when you work it out.

It's like the Tesco Value washing up liquid at 14p per litre, where you use three times as much, so call it 42p per litre, compared with Fairy Liquid at £1.49 per litre.

You DO need more of the cheapies, but they ARE better value.
