I'd never heard of Happy Slapping until this programme. I'm almost tempted to go out and do it now, just so I can blame Tonight With Trevor McDonald for giving me the idea.

Anyone come across this one yet, or got an opinion?

We didn't have none of this sort of thing in the 90s... did we?, everyone was well behaved helping old people across the road with their shopping, wern't they?
The only thing I rememeber from (I think) the late 1980's or early 1990's was the saying "I'll kick ya for your trainers" where youths used to go round nicking people's "Nike Air's"

They didn't do that in my area, did they have Nike Air's in 1989?!!
People were probably wearing the stuff that is now seen as retro.

I do remember the Tango thing though, although at least you only did that to people you knew, not random people in the street

Indeed they did. I was a dancer in the opening ceremony of the 1986 Commonwealth Games and they gave us Nike Air trainers as part of the costume.

Only pair I've ever owned, actually.

Oh God.

And to think I went to the Empire Games in Cardiff, whichever year that was, but long before they re-named it the Commonwealth Games.

I'm sure I've also seen you in that grainy footage of the Titanic leaving Southampton, too. ;)

Wouldn't be surprised!

I've just Googled, and the "Empire and Commonwealth Games" were in Cardiff in 1958, I gather.

I remember the building of the Empire Pool for the Games. I now read that it was demolished in 1998 to make way for the Millenium Stadium.

Sailor Vee!
