That reminds me. Viking Direct have their dear Ian Helford, Chairman on the front of their catalogues and he's formed part of their brand image. However his days are also numbered, and they've now resorted to calling him "Chairman Emeritus". What are they going to do when he does -- "Chairman Moritus" or something?

I'm just wondering why all the media outlets are using the term 'tracheotomy', when, in practice, most doctors say 'tracheo<b>s</b>tomy'. Indeed, a quick glance at a few of my medical textbooks shows that most - particularly the more respected ones, like the Oxford Handbook - don't even list 'tracheotomy', using only the alternative. And yet almost everything I've read or seen about this uses the relatively more obscure term. Any ideas as to why?
