On The TV Forum I was banned under the name of GJ05 for posting pointless posts but I havn't been banned on this forum.

Yes but IE4 introduced all kinds of new things over IE3, including the shell enhancements, dynamic HTML and ill-fated ActiveX controls. Therefore it was a worthwhile upgrade.
New features in IE5 over IE4: Nothing really major apart from Autocomplete and a newer engine.
New features in IE6 over IE5: The cookie features, newer rendering engine, again very little in the way of major change to functionality as per IE4.
November 1997 was Internet Explorer 4 and there's a lot of sites that don't work - or at least don't work properly - in IE4.
Well in this day and age if a site doesn't work in IE4 it really doesn't matter as that version of the browser is so out of date anyway
