There is nothing to stop anybody with a fast enough connection from downloading the 266Mb file regardless of whether they will update one computer or 1500 computers. The smaller version will, most likely, be like Active Setup is for Internet Explorer; that is, it'll give you the size of the installer to download AND THEN that will decide what it needs to download for your system. The 266Mb file just covers all the bases.

the only difference is that Express only downloads what you need. Everything is in this one.

Ah, this is the new version of Internet Explorer, isn't it? I look forward to getting that.

If I do download the full-whack edition, will I get more than I would in the slim version of will the extras in full-whack just not get installed?

Surely we're due IE7 out soon - IE6 has been around for at least 3 years, which is astonishing when you think IE3 had a shelf-life of about 1!

I have just downloaded SP2 and its brilliant!

There is a pop up blocker on IE, Firewall and stuff and there is more themes. no trouble with the internet.

"New version" is not exactly what it is.

Patched up current version with the security settings turned to what they should have been anyway is more accurate.

The "add ons manager" thing is marvellous though.

IE7 is only for Longhorn as current plans go although at msdn.com there has been rumblings with the IE development team being reassembled and what not.

If you are referring to as to whether you download the 266Mb file or the smaller one from the end of the month, the latter will download what it needs for your system so presumably it will include all the patches to date if you have them installed it wouldn't download them. The 266Mb file just covers all the bases - it's self contained.

Well IE7 is due as part of Longhorn which isn't due out until 2006 at the earliest so between SP2 and then expect issuing of more patches and what not for IE6 and Windows XP. I don't expect them to release IE7 standalone.
