£30 on taxi
£12-20 to get in the club

Never known a person who drinks the stuff, I find it absolutely vile, and this from someone who lives only a couple of miles from the brewery where it all began...

Strongbow's nice, but I prefer Bulmers, not as strong a cider as Strongbow, other then that, Coors Light, Miller (not very often) and red wine, never white.

Bit of a fuddy duddy me, I'm afraid. Can't stand pubs where it's Carling, Worthingtons, or nothing. I tend to like ales with silly names, ones that aren't just manufactured fizz in a glass. But I guess in order...

1. "Ale" though a broad term. Served chilled but not cold.
2. Bottled lager. Trying not to contradict myself above, I do like the stuff when it's ice cold and about 5% abv. Bottled lager just tastes better. Dunno why.
3. Red wine. Served at room temperature. Just find white boring, though it's quite nice as a spritzer, but that's a bit of a tarts drink. ;)

I would have put Southern Comfort and lemonade at number 4, though I have to watch the alcohol intake these days as my medicines won't allow me to get pissed. ;)

Incidently, one of my medical guides tells me that patients on warfarin such as myself shouldn't "binge drink." Now, I've asked many people about this as to what would constitute an evening of "binge drinking" and the answers range from "about 10 pints" (my brother) to "no more than a swift half" (my mother, unsurprisingly)
So, what would you class as "binge drinking"? I must have had a whole bottle of wine over the course of the evening the other week and felt OK. :?

This explains so much.
Why so?
Well, it's quite possibly the most watery, wimpy, sorry excuse for a beer every made.

I do actually think it tastes quite nice - odd though, I always thought that the Americans were firercely proud of it.

These Americans voted for George W Bush.

There's a new bar round the corner from my flat. It opened with quite a lot of pomp and ceremony, even getting this story in the Edinburgh Evening News:

http://edinburghnews.scotsman.com/index ... =688772004

I was disappointed to note, on my first visit, that they don't have a 'standard' Cider for sale (Blackthorn, Strongbow - even Woodpecker for goodness sake), but instead have a 'designer' cloudy cider. Can't remember what its called but it begins with "A". Not nice. Was like drinking a fibogel concoction. Plus it cost about £3 a pint.

I may pop a note though encouraging them to use a standard cider too.

They have no idea what my spending power is in pubs, clearly.

In a medical sense, it's drinking more than your weekly allowance divided by seven, since the weekly allowance assumes you drink it evenly spaced over the week - so that's more than three units per night for men, or two for women.

The figure I have usually seen quoted is more than 3 drinks in a session.
