eeugh, I absolutely detest Marmite. My dad's recently started having it on his toast.

Absoluetely hate the stuff, it could never pass my lips as the smell is in itself enough to make me want to throw up. The same goes for tomatoes too.

You are not far wrong. All the crappy bits of meat end up in "No Frills or Basic" lines. I do like it that there's a quality control pecking order for these kind of things.
Anyway, for the record, I despise Marmite and would be happy to see it obliterated in all its hellish forms.

Ah, but maybe you all hate it as you have only had it as a spread... as a drink, well, that's a different matter! I'm not 100% keen on it as a spread as I have said! Bovril is OK, the cubes make a better drink than the spread (isn't Bovril seen as a drink first and a spread second as opposed to Marmite which is the other way round?) Any other flavour other than beef though is gross. Chicken, vegetable, yuk! And yes, I know Marmite is vegetarian. Also, did you know they once experimented with Marmite cubes back in the 1950's?
Wonder if OXO tastes the same...

Marmite is truly the epitomy of an 'either you love it or hate it' scenario isn't it?
I cannot stand it. It's not physically possible for me to swallow it (be that on toast, in a sandwhich with something else, or as a drink), I start to retch at the mere thought.
I find Bovril marginally better (as in I would drink it if it was the only drinking source left on the planet), but it's still pretty nasty stuff imo.
Curiously, the greasy spoon restaurant at Redruth railway station used to have cups of Bovril and Marmite on the hot drinks menu (I say used to, but they may well still do them now), I haven't seen them served anywhere else before or since.

I have to admit that I am somewhat indifferent on this subject

Living with two people who adore Marmite, I get the virtues of it extolled to me on a rather frequent basis, however, I have never felt the need to wander over to the cupboard and spread it over a piece of toast.
That said, when I have, I have rather enjoyed the experience, especially with eggs, but not enough to repeat it on a regular basis.
So there.

Have any of you lot tried the Guiness marmite? I haven't bought any yet, i keep forgetting. Apparently it's selling on ebay it for £7 +. It's a supposedly a limited edition. I like Guiness and i like Marmite so just wandering if you marmite lovers and haters had tried it.
