AFAIK, some Linux distros have limited support, for so called "WinModems", but IMO, it's best all round to
use an external one, on both Linux and on Windows. If you can't get (or don't want) an external modem,
the site linmodems.org may help get your "WinModem" working on whatever Linux distro you're running.
