You know what they say about your type don't you? The more expensive the car the smaller the...
Mind you, if that were true, I would have to drive a mini!

How much did the damage cost after that crash, DSM?
The other parties' insurance paid for it in the end, so I got my excess back, but it actually cost over £800 to fix. Thats about 10% value of the car brand new, and considering that the only things that were broken were a scuffed bumper, dented wing and broken head light, i find it quite shocking.
I had to have another new headlight installed the other day (annoyingly, the same one that got replaced during the previous accident) at a cost of around £138 because it got broke with a stone.
I was thinking of upgrading me saxo to a Golf, Audi or some other middle-market type car, but given that even a grannies runabout costs a fortune to fix when it goes wrong, I think i may reconsider!

In your dreams love! I thought it was more to do size of car rather than cost...... if it were about cost, I'd have a bike lol !
However, mine is good as the cover goes back and forth at the press of a knob.

Well after passing my test on Thursday (only two minors YAY!). I'm looking to get a nice car. I learned in a Mercedes A-Class, which is a very nice car to drive (compared to a lot of others that I have been in). If I find a nice secondhand one, then hopefully I can be a proud owner of one. Otherwise if not, I'll need to look for something else.

The car would be cheap enough to buy - but would you be able to insure it?
I'd doubt that many insurance companies would insure you for such a car after just a couple of days of passing your test.

I've got my *fab* red Ford Fiesta.
Some bugger nicked my front number plate last night though, so I've had to get a new one today, but it's only a few quid. It's a great car though, looks almost new, no marks or anything on it.
Not planning to upgrade just yet, although if I did I would probably get a Tigra like my mum's, because they are great fun to drive!

That is no doubt the letdown. I have a friend who has an A-Class (same age) and he is named as an additional driver on his insurance, so benefits from his fathers very good driving record. I know its not the correct way but it gives cheaper insurance. (in reality I wouldn't be the only driver, I'm sure my mum or dad might want to use the car sometime...

1998 metallic blue Ford Escort Si 1.8.
Almost identical to the GTi version, but without the extra body kit and part leather front seats. Otherwise almost identical.
Great handling with nice 1.8 Zetec engine. I don't plan to replace it any time soon. I don't particularly like the look of new cars, although a few have grown on me somewhat.
I didn't like the Focus when it first came out, but it sort of look nice and dynamic to me now. I also hated the new Fiesta that came out last year, but the 3 door versions with the bigger wheels and sportier look actually look nice.
Hate the Focus-based C-MAX and not too keen on the Fusion. The new Focus which comes out sometime in the Autumn looses the sharp ques of the current focus and overall looks pretty grim.

Well I passed it, I got 31 out of 35 on the Theory and 58 out of 75 on the Hazard Peception Test. So I am very happy now, but I should think about buying a car soon. Even though I will have a very limited budget.

I used to have a blue Mini, which was somewhat ironic me being not the smallest of people.
To add to the irony, when it died I sold it to a dwarf.

I hope to finally get round to taking lessons before the summer and soon after I plan to get a car. Been looking at a few but the Ford Scorpio tickles my fancy. I know the insurance will be pretty high but I'm getting it on someone elses policy. The leather seats, electric windows, air conditioning etc are too tempting, especially at £1000 - £2000.
