My friend Yumpadump is creating a TV channel. He want's his name to be in it, along with the phrase 'Oxford Ultra Action Rally Eight After Boulder Egg Donkey Wales Eagle Telly Telly Empadoo Ring' and the word Television. Problem is, the name is too long to fit on the EPG. Can anybody suggestion an abbreviation to be used on idents, merchandise and all legal paperwork?

The silly thing is he once referred to BBC One in his thread in this way, "BBC One (AKA B1)"
AKA? No,it's only AKA to him. It's like me saying "Dog shit, AKA the picture I drew 3 days ago when I was pissed."

Ronnie is victorious, vivacious in victory like a venomous dog. Vile Republicans cease living while the religious retort with rueful rhetoric. These rank thugs resort to violence and swear revenge.
But Ronnie can punch through steel so they lose anyway.

Tumble Tower (AKA Pissflap Breath)
They already have perfectly good names, which, in a way, are codes themselves.Tumble Tower wrote: What's wrong with me assigning codes to the channels? Here are the eight BBC TV Channels.
DS??? That explains a lot!To see my complete list of channels and their codes, please click here.
So you and your irritating codes are meant to supercede actual channel names and/or more recognisable names because you think they're BETTER? How reatarded are you?The reason for this habit, which others seem to disapprove of, is to encourage others to use the codes, in order that they will catch on. How else are the codes meant to catch on if I just keep them to myself.
You are SADNESS personified! BBC1 takes four keystrokes on 3 keys, SSN has been used for AGES for Sky Sports News...
If you click the said link, you'll also see the following code on my list in the Sky section:
SSN = Sky Sports News (Sky 405)
Whilst I was browsing the Sky News thread in The Newsroom yesterday evening, I noticed that Sky Sports News also gets a mention on that thread. I noticed one user (NOT me!) on there refer to Sky Sports News as SSN in one post. At least that's one of my codes that has started to be used by someone else. I wish they'd all become part of general use. Face it, those codes are handy when texting on a mobile, are they not? What's the easiest of the following to type:
BBC One, BBC1 or B1
BBC Three, BBC3 or B3
CBeebies or B6
BBC News 24 or B7
Sky Sports News or SSN
In all cases, I think the code (2 or 3 characters).

...please, die. Die now. Horribly.

Tumble Tower is/was Star Attraction? That explains a lot, what an annoying cunt he is/was. The same tosser who tried to convince us we could use masthead amps (up to 100 in series) to recieve weak satellite signals on a BSB squarial.Tumble Tower wrote:To see my complete list of channels and their codes, please click here
I see no point in the code either. No one is going to be able to learn all the codes for all the channels, and any new person coming along will have no idea what you're jabbering on about. The contradictory thing is, that in order for anybody (the majority) to have any idea what you talking about, you have to include bith the name of the channel and it's shortend version (with brackets), so in effect you're actually lengthening the channel names.
Why not just refer top all channels by thier EPG number? All channels would be catered for, all would be a maximum of 3 numbers and they'll all be just as easy to guess as this code. Even so, more people are likely to understand as they'll know some of the epg numbers as they use them everyday.
Or lets just be even more simplified and just use the names of the channels, that way no one gets confused and you (TT) will get far less abuse. But I suppose that idea will just be too ilogical.

I was thinking of setting one up as well called Carlton Ultimate Nature Television.Lee wrote:Tumble Tower, I am very interested in your idea of shortening channel names. This is very useful as I am always texting channel names to friends. I live in the Anglia region (AR) and I am creating a new internet TV channel called "Anglia Region Sports Entertainment" - could you please provide me with a 4-letter code for it?Tumble Tower wrote:To see my complete list of channels and their codes, please click here.

I(A)CRE1 (assuming it is the first of the network's channels on the EPG).
