American Apparel's administrators are closing 12 out of the 13 stores. Camden High Street in London will remain open in January.

A much nicer colour scheme when I've seen it in person than the usual, if a tad autumnal

Now if they could bring back the same levels of customer service they had in the 80s and 90s instead of the minimal staffing and upsell stock.

I went past today - it had plenty of 'last few days' posters in the window.

Meanwhile, there's been a bit of a fire sale for the manufacturing plant.

Hundreds of jobs at risk as Clinton Cards considers mass store closures (again)

The branch in Sheffield shut down overnight with no obvious warning a couple of weeks ago. The only time I'd been in there was just a couple of days before.

Fate of 34 Budgens stores in balance
The future of more than 30 Budgens stores hangs in the balance after The Food Retailer Operations business went into administration last Friday.
In short the stores affected are the ones which were originally Somerfields stores before the Co-Operative brought them out, and then sold them on to Budgens. Staff at my local branch have apparently be told their store is set to close in about 4 weeks. Having seen how the Co-Operative had been cutting staff at these stores to the point it was under-staffed, and Budgens hadn't resolved this problem, it's no real surprised sales had declined.

The Budgens in Sheffield City Centre (ex Co-op/Somerfield) closed down a few weeks ago, with a short closing down sale - having only been a Budgens about 9 months if that. It never did seem like a good idea - what chance did Budgens stand of turning around failing Co-op stores, when the Co-op had a far better range of products?
