Playing Sound Via MP3 Player

I know this sounds strange, unusual, weird, but is there a way to send the sound from the sound card on my PC, down the MP3 player which is connected via USB and then up into my ears via the earphones connected to it?

Many thanks for any help.

To be fair you could probably do it with a hacked iPod Touch, ssh and a lot of knowhow :)

Why on earth would you want to do this? Wouldn't it be easier to just plug the earphones into the PC?

I presume he wants to listen to music from his ipod and computer interchangeably. Which you can do with a 2-to-1 headphone cable (i.e. two input ends, one for the ipod and one for hte pc, and one female end, into which your headphones plug in).

It DOES exist! Honest!

css, you're wrong, but thanks!

Okay, I'll let you all into a secret. I'm too stingy to take my computer to the shop and have my speakers and thus earphone jack fixed, and I can't be bothered to do it myself. So I was trying to see if there was a way round the problem. The problem is with not with the soundcard BTW. Never mind, I guess I'll do it the normal way!

I didn't even realise they existed, but I'll certainly consider it, would be very useful, thanks.

I didn't know they existed either, but apparently one of the Scottish jocks on the radio station I used to work for used one. He sounded terrible but then I doubt you'll be using it for broadcasting, only listening.

Yeah, just listening will be fine.

Cheaper than I thought too, looking into it.
