For some reason I have managed to delete the registry entries for the file type associations for folders and drives on my XP SP2 machine. I've tried creating new entries in the Folder Options program, but I still can't get windows to open folders or other drives on my machine when I click on them. Also, whenever I try to create a new entry in the box below and click Apply or OK, the setting disappears when I reopen it!!

I can still access the files if I open Windows Explorer and do it the fiddly way, but its very annoying and I'm very annoyed with myself for messing around with the settings to begin with!

Whenever I click on my D: or E: drive icons now, I simply get the option to reformat them! Not good! :(

If anyone can help me, I would be eternally grateful!

Done that and it didn't work. I did a system restore to 22 May, but it doesn't seem to have repaired the regedit entries I deleted.

However, if anyone knows how I can reassign my folders and drives to open again properly please let me know!

I guess my last resort will be having to phone Microsoft Support and tell them what a retard I am!

Wooo! I've fixed it!

Don't ask me how, because I really don't remember. Lots of tweaking in regedit and running: "regsvr32 /i shell32.dll" solved most of the problems.

Mwhahaha! I'm a geek genius!
