Somewhere in one of my archive boxes here, I've got a 78 of that story, told by Derek McCulloch, Uncle Mac from Children's Hour.

You get half way through, then have to turn it over to hear the second half.

When I first used to play it, in my youth, you also had to wind up the gramophone before playing the second half.

A bit like having to wait a week for the next episode of Doctor Who.

Now, Uncle Mac would have been in favour of Scottish independence, I'm sure.

From the Cornish perspective, an English parliament would be acceptable, any attempt at a regional English assembly based in Bristol would be opposed.

It wouldn't surprise me if such a proposal was made it might prevoke Civil Disobedience within the County.

I love the way the people of Plymouth want to get rid of everyone.

The bridge is free if you're going west into Cornwall, but if you want to come back into Plymouth they make you pay.

Of course we make THEM pay coming in from Kernow, and to the East of the city we dig up the road during "tourist season" to put people off coming from that direction too!

Do you know, I've not been west of the Tamar yet in 2007 and we're over three months in.

I'm getting withdrawal symptoms from my Fowey river. I shall have to do something about it.

Reminds me must visit Plymouth soon, Need to have a wander around the Drake's Circus emporium.

Will do that next week I think, I'll check out FGW's timetables tomorrow.

(I've not driven east of Bodmin for over 10 years!)

Don't be too reliant on First GWR too much nowadays though, apparently the service has become very poor since the merger last year :roll:

As DVB Cornwall says, I think the main problems are that somebody thought it was a good idea to have the same people who run a Mainline Intercity service running local trains - two very different things - and it doesn't seem to have worked!

The Mainline FGW trains from South Wales-London always seem to be on time whereas the train from Cardiff to Portsmouth harbour I have noticed be late a number of times!

It's about time they upgraded Cardiff Central station. It's dirty, overcrowded and doesn't have a proper roof. Many a time I've stood on the platform on a cold, wet November afternoon getting soaked to the skin.
