There's not even a mention of him putting on his coat and hat in less than seven seconds flat

Pure sacrilege

At least they've kept the lyrics to the theme tune...

Old version:
When he hears the fire bell clang,
Fireman Sam is there on time...

New version:
When he hears that fire alarm,
Sam is always cool and calm...

Well the bit at the end then. ;)

Not watched Fireman Sam for about 13 years.

No, all of the lyrics are changed, but some of the new ones are taken from the extended theme which was used on the CD version...

Now I understand that companies like Hit Entertainment and Entertainment Rights want to buy old shows because they have a brand attached to them but I don't understand why they insist on changing the themetunes to crap like that. I'm sure even small children can tell how bad that sounds.

Let's not mention that slightly scary face he now has...

I'll have to say that I like the old version much better to the current one. The old one was no nonsense, had a better song and was more memoriable than the one now that i'm going to forget.

I have some old episodes of Fireman Sam somewhere in my house that I would watch a lot of when I was a child but I wonder what Norman will be like in the new episodes? Is he going to be troublesome again or are they going to make him into a chav so he can fit in the so called *cough* modern day lifestyle?

They've added a new character who becomes his best friend, so they've overlooked the fact he was so badly behaved because he was a bit of a loner most of the time with an over protective mother and no decent father figure. But then I've just over analysed a children's programme

Strangely, HIT Entertainment owns the rights to Fireman Sam, but Siriol Productions made the new series, which is owned by... Entertainment Rights.

I spent a day at the studios in Cardiff when this new series was in production, several years ago. They originally had just John Sparkes doing all the voices, but a 'message from above' led to a female voice being introduced.

I caught this by accident on CBeebies a few months ago and it isn't the show I remember, it's too modern, though Sam has more of a Welsh accent than he used to. Though it's not that New, the one I saw was credited to S4C in about 2002 or so....

Same with Postman Pat, I just don't like the new version and CBeebies won't show the old.
