I've managed to rediscover a song I've not heard in at least 15 years - All Men Are Liars by Nick Lowe.
Any song which successfully rhymes 'Rick Astley' with 'ghastly' gets my seal of approval.

Butterflies And Hurricanes goes on my very exclusive mental list of all-time favourite songs ever don't you know. The piano part is fantastic. I nearly had an aneurism when he played that followed by Feeling Good at the Reading Festival.

Oh god i love the piano part. I think i'd wet myself if i heard it live. I got the Reading cd from the NME but i'm too much of a girl to slum it. I'm a venue girly. My fave on the NME freebie is the Fratellis .. Skinny girl.

While I'm here let me bore everyone to death with this week's musical likings, and be grateful I don't do this on a weekly basis chaps.
THOM YORKE - Harrowdown Hill
Eaaasily the best track from The Eraser, this rather depressing track doubles in its incredibleness when you realise what the lyrics are about. How the hell someone can summarise the death of David Kelly and the controversy of dark Govenment actors into a 4 and a half minute song beats me.
BROKEN SOCIAL SCENE - 7/4 Shoreline
I urge everyone to listen to this and love it. If they don't love it, the should be forced to listen to it repeatedly until they do love it. Every one of this band's tracks are "deep". You'll have to listen to a few if you have no idea what I'm talking about. Let's just say there were probably more band members than audience at the Reading Festival.
GET CAPE. WEAR CAPE. FLY - Whitewash Is Brainwash
A good local singer/songwriter, one of the band members used to be in my class don't you know. They're getting bigger and bigger with lots of airplay on Radios 1, 2 and 6 Music as well as MTV and an appearance at Reading. I choose this track because, again, the lyrics are incredible. A 4 minute analysis of modern Britain being fooled by Endemol, Ikea and greeting card manufacturers.
KATE RUSBY - No Names
She very nearly ruined it all for me when she decided to duet with Ronan Keating. It's like deciding to infect yourself with the Ebola virus in my book. Take him out of it and you're left with a beautiful folk singer and some gorgeous songs. This one is a particular favourite; it's music at its best, made better by her Sheffield accent. Idlewild frontbloke, Roddy Woomble makes an appearance in this song.
LILY ALLEN - Oh My God
Lily Allen. Kaiser Chiefs cover. On paper it doesn't work. In reality it's fantastico.
I'll let you escape at five.

My copy is in my car stereo DAS i play it ALOT. I also like track 9. Don't know who it's by as i binned the cd sleeve.
I'd have loved to have been at Reading in a VW hippy camper van. Maybe Glastonbury next year eh! Ooooh! We could have a metropol meetup.

A campervan would definitely make a great weekend, although camping is more fun than it should be in my opinion. We couldn't sleep one night because the Welshman in the tent next door - his name was Howie. Anyone know him? - laughed non-stop for an hour at his friend's tent being damp. One continuous 60-minute laugh at 4 in the morning, on top of the generator being used for the security floodlight that illuminated our tents overnight. But the atmosphere on site is brilliant.
