In these sort of things people generally still count Newport as a town, which is just as well, because in my book Newport is the rudest, most ignorant, filthy excuse for a city on this Earth.

I personally think that most places I've been to in the South East are full of rude people, London especially. On the other hand, living in Sheffield as I do, I find it to be incredibly welcoming and warm, people working shops are always polite and up for a chat. I've always found that - make a comment to someone up North and you get a laugh and something back. Do the same down South and you get stared at as if you're a freak.

Amen to that. I love it when I get to freelance over in Rutland (England's smallest mainland county don't you know) as the people in every single shop are friendly...and even better they know who you are as they all tune in to the local radio station. It's like being a minor celeb. London people are horrible - but it's a means to an end.

I'm surprised to see Cardiff mentioned.

Even the Asians are friendly. The Asian bloke who works in the Texaco petrol station on Newport road is always full of beans. Even at 3am! :D

It has got to be London for me. I don't like it at all. I have to travel to London a fair bit during the year and the best thing about London is leaving the godforsaken place. Most Southerners are rude with the exception of myself and those from the South West.
I have family Oooop North and i love it up there. North Wales is a definate no, no. I went to Bangor once and they don't like the English very much, if at all.

Bangor is a vast pool of nothingness.

I went there once. It took me only two minutes to wonder why.
