Volunteer work

A rather pointless thread but what the hey, if we can have a thread about bollocks, we can have a thread about... well whatever this thread turns into.

I start volunteer work at a cattery in Norwich next week, basically cleaning things, doing the odd computer work, and whatever else needs doing, whenever I can - which is really handy because I can just drop in whenever. I was there today to be shown around and I just wanted to share some pics of the SWEETEST little things I have ever seen!

Most of the cats there were tiny, some were older and just curled up in a corner. Today was just to see if I'd be interested and up for cleaning a cat's cage when its crapped itself, but they are the sweetest little things I have ever seen so how can I not be up for it.

Anyone else thinking Gizmo the Gremlin?

(of course I'm talking about the kitten, not fireboy)

Good work Lee, hope you enjoy it :) How did it comes about anyway?

I'm afraid that kitten is quite evil.

I'll have the black and white ones -- and the black one. I shall be the local weird cat lady.

I would love to help out at a cat place but we only have a dog one and I don't really do dogs.

We've got a pig farm though -- but they don't really need help, they just stink the town out.

I've wanted, for a while, to be able to get out more and meet new people, do something different to design and computer-related stuff, so I dropped into the volunteer place in the city with a friend to see what they had. The cattery was the first thing to pop up on their computers, and it seemed ideal – I like animals, I don't mind cleaning...

It's nice to know that you're doing something to help someone when you're volunteering, whether that be working at a cattery or simply meeting up with someone who is a bit lonely. There is lots out there to be done, things that pay more than money is worth, and a lot of missing smiles :P

Anyhow, we'll see how it goes. It may not last long if they want me early in the morning!

May I start with the slightly overused (and becoming tedious): "Please, sir... can I have some more?"

Fancy keeping a cat in the fridge. How awful.

Personally, I prefer my pussys warm, but wet.

Awww! He's lovely!

I much prefer dogs to cats. Dogs are far more loyal and don't strut around the kitchen with an erect tale meowing for food!
