I have just read about Moviebox from Pinnacle. If anybody has it or knows about it, please read on.
1. Does it capture good quality unlike WinTV USB?
2. What's the difference between the deluxe version: http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASI ... 83-9559006
and the basic USB version

Thanks
Pinnacle Studio Moviebox
No I don't have one, but I would recommend you get something internal if you have a desktop PC - cuts down on the amount of wires and boxes on your desk, and also internal cards will offer better value.J.Christie wrote:I have just read about Moviebox from Pinnacle. I can only find two versions; USB and Firewire.
Everybody knows what a USB is, but how does Firewire work?

It's the same as USB. You plug it in.J.Christie wrote:I can only find two versions; USB and Firewire.

Firewire was first around on Macs as it was an Apple thing - only recently has Firewire or 1394 to give it its technical name become commonplace on PCs.

Well, as some people may know, WinTV USB provides shit quality captures. Does anybody have an internal WinTV device that captures things in good quality?
I have a WinTV internal board. The quality when fed from a digibox via S-Video/Composite is very good, although when I feed via co-ax from the same digibox, the quality is rubbish and grainy (probably due to the fact I've got a bog standard cheapo co-ax cable and not the professional stuff).J.Christie wrote:Well, as some people may know, WinTV USB provides shit quality captures. Illustrated in the screengrabs below when using the co-ax input: -

And when using the composite input

I'm sure if I used some decent co-ax cable, the quality would be somewhat better.
Unfortunately by S-Video/RCA connector has had its pins bent beyond belief (it fell out often due to the short cable from the digibox, combined with the dark void behind the computer) and I am having significant difficulty in obtaining one at a reasonable price.
The local electrical place wants to charge me SEVEN BLOODY QUID for a replacement. So if anyone has a spare one of these going and wouldn't mind sending me it or knows where I can get one for a resonable price, then PM me.
