took my girlie for a weekend away in our capital, and saw two policemen, one armed standing next to the door marked with a red star. i've took a picture of the sign on the back of the building (towards the city inn hotel). does anybody know why this building has such high security?

It's where clean versions of every TV news and programme theme are kept on gold-plated compact discs!

I don't know, but I'd imagine it's some kind of governmental building. Unless I'm mistaken, SW1 has Millbank. And that's not too far from the Government's department buildings.

Didn't notice it last month when I stayed at the City Inn... there were certainly no police around anyway! Must have just been someone important visiting or something! 8)

I think it's some kind of governmental building - tempted to say it's either the MOD or MI5 judging by the security present, and the design of the exterior.

However, there's absolutely no way you can miss the MI6 building as you come into London.

thanks james - it's amazing how many unmarked buildings there are in the sw1 area, we walked around most of the commercial parts of south and east london there seems to be massive office blocks with no clear purpose.

i was also horrified to see the new salvation arm hq near the millennium bridge, however much did that cost, i wonder?

i'm in the wrong business, i think i should be flogging bibles.

Yes, it's amazing. Quite scary if you're not used to that way of life though!!

The rooms are top notch and the service is great. Really nice hotel!
