i dont know if anybody here can help me, but i'm looking for a piece of software, like winamp, that has a playlist, all the controls for audio playback, except, instead of playback happening locally, it can happen on a remote pc. all the music is stored remotely, and the interface locally is merely a frontend for something more complex sitting on another pc.

does that make any sense? and does what i'm looking for exist?

any help much appreciated.

You can get plugin's for winamp that do that, via the net/intranet. You type the ip of the pc thats been set up etc, and you can do everything winamp does via your browser, look on the winamp site under plugins.

Alternatively you can do it with Linux. Don't ask me how though :)
