Now come on this is going one step to far. Not content with banning Christmas from job centres they are now going to have programems like Father Ted & The vicar Of Dibley made illegal.
Enough of this bannign of everything it is time a stop is put to this now. Hopefully this bill is not passed!

Nothing is sacred. I tell you what if my bosses told us to take down our christmas tree I would refuse. If they say it affends minorities I will tell them that I find it offensive to suggest to take it down!

I quite agree. I find the idea that people find Christmas offensive, Offensive.Johnny wrote:Nothing is sacred. I tell you what if my bosses told us to take down our christmas tree I would refuse. If they say it affends minorities I will tell them that I find it offensive to suggest to take it down!
I am I religious person (Roman Catholic) and If I were asked to remove my Christmas tree from the office because it is deemed offensive, I would tell the so-and-so that being asked to remove a Christmas tree is offensive to me.
Then again, I’d also be a bit miffed if a Jewish person was asked not to celebrate Hanukah.
Political correctness gone wrong, me thinks.

“What the Frack?!?” "SO SAY WE ALL!!!"
Ah but you miss the point. Father Ted & Vicar of Dibley were comedies centred around Christianity - the given religion of our country. That's fine. As with so many things, this new bill won't strive to reach equality, it will only ever be invoked at programmes which poke fun at minority religions. Now come on this is going one step to far. It's all about this wonderful multicultural society which is being forced on us which no one asked for and which plain doesn't work.
Rather ironically of course, the very people which this bill is designed to protect in the main wouldn't find a Father Ted type programme centred on their religion offensive at all.
If you need proof that New Labour are the Tories in disguise... this is it.
I don't know anybody who agress that Christmas festivites should be curtailed as being offensive - I mean, are there requests to limit how Hannukah or Diwali is celebrated? No. Any non-Christians I know are not offended by Christmas, in fact they enjoy taking part in the festive events.
I believe in an equal society, but the things I hear about in the news about shopping centres banning Santa and carol services cancelled p*ss me off - how long will it take until we are all beings devoid of expression and emotion?
Oh wait, that's already happening already with ID cards.

I goto a religous school, and after that, I'm beggining to hate religon itself.
Face it, if religon didnt exsist now, we'd all be living a bit more sorta harmoniously, or, people will find something to make more problems for themselves.
hmm.

I went to a Catholic school which used to be a convent school, and when I was going through my early teens my faith and religion was stronger than it was now, but not to the point of me fundamentally believing that my religion represented the One Holy and Apostolic Church or that other faiths, within or outside the Christian church, were of a lesser importance.
I'd never have wanted other religions to hold back on celebrating their feasts or observances as I found them offensive on non-inclusive.

I'm an Anglican and don't fully understnad how Catholics think that if you don't have a faith you will stay in purgatory for a longer time than one who has a faith.
I find this hard to believe for the fact that there is no time in anywhere other than Earth for time is a man-made invention so you can't stay in "purgatory" for a length of "time".
It also says that there is no point in religion because it shows that you don't have to believe in God to go to Heaven?
I went to a Roman Catholic Primary School and found their outlook on things was extremely strange and I will never become a Catholic! I'm happy with the Church of England thank you!!
If I've said something completely wrong please tell me!

No offence taken, Joel. Thankfully, because I went to school up until 1999, our RE classes never took interpreting the Bible or the catechism to that extreme or enforced us to live our lives according to the scriptures.
Because the Catholic church doesn't hold the same power as it used to, and as most of the older generation of priests and worshippers have died, it's rare you will find people today who share that kind of outlook. I had a devout upbringing, went to Mass every week but haven't been since I moved to England, but in our house we were never told that other religions were not as worthy as the Catholic church and we were brought up to respect people whoever they are.
