I have not found any apple strudel thread so i thought i would take mattas into my own hands.... :arrow: :D :arrow:

(Since this has been requested by people, I fully expect a discussion on the pros and cons of apple strudel)

This is one, apparently, or to be precise a "Viennese Apple Strudel". Can's say I find it particularly appealing looking...

EDIT: Looking at that Strudelland website I have to ask, why on earth would anyone put cheese and raisins together with puff pastry? It boggles the mind.

What fascinates me is the hazing of boundaries between strudel, roulard, your classic "pie" and so on and so forth. Some of the desserts at Strudelland I would have classed as roulard. Is this some kind of globalisation of desserts?

To paraphrase the great Francis Fukayama, this really is "the end of roulard".

Strudel now has the entire global pastry-filled-sweet industry to itself.

It's shocking when you think about it, really.
