Something random just hit me, not a pigeon but as I was walking through my local high street I was some pigeons flying past and realised. I have never in my life seen a baby pigeon, only the annoying full sized grey ones. Where do pigeons come from!? They can't hatch or be born because you never see them, so they must just appear from no-where, or something odd. Help.

They are able to magically disappear when it rains too.

I have the answer, as it came to me rather suddenly when I began to walk to the train station where I live now.

They come from under highway overpasses.

Yes, there appear to be large populations of pigeons living under freeway bridges and overpasses. The evidence I give you is this:
- large splotches of dried pigeon poo near the edges of the bridge structure
- dead pigeons that have fallen off the bridge structure
- pieces of small eggs about the size of your thumb
- more poo
- more dead pigeons

And then, most convincingly, when one looks up at the bridge, one sees pigeons flying around and roosting in the cracks and crevices thereupon.

Perhaps you have a future in the Pigeon Welfare Industry as a researcher.... I always thought pigeons came from a fusion of female and male pigeon DNA originating from a flurry of intense activity....

No no no no no, that's not right at all. It's the birds and the bees who have all the sexy activity.

As is my understanding.

Very true, by the Swing Bridge near my house, or any on the Manchester Ship Canal. Anyone who has crossed them often enough as I have will know that pigeons live there, the pavements are usually full of pigeon shit, some old some fresh, unfortunately once a pigeon did crap on me whilst walking over it.

I've never seen any dead ones on the bridges, but I saw a dead one on the A49 the other day.

Pigeons are vile. They are rats with wings.

They serve no purpose to man nor beast other than causing untold damage to landmarks and buildings with their runny white doings.

You have to feel for poor Nelson, stood there minding his own business, on his column covered in dirty pigeon doo doo.

Then of course there are the evil little old ladies who store up a weeks worth of crumbs from the Mothers Pride to unleash upon a greedy flock of pigeons. They seem to take great pleasure out of being surrounded by these vermin. How can they do that ? I saw one woman with one on her head once, she must have been a right mental.

Were you by any chance watching the Walt Disney film "Mary Poppins" at the time? :-D

There is some mad woman at the top of my street who tears up bread and leaves it out in the morning. You know what I trod in not so long ago? Little squares of Cadburys chocolate!

I don't know what upset me more - the waste of Dairy Milk or the encouragement of vermin of all descriptions. Batty old cow. I should put some rats through her letterbox.

Nah, she would just give them a bath and send them on their way.

Anyway, pigeons, they are just disease ridden vermin, shatting all over the place. Woodpigeons though, they seem okay (they don't sh*t as much anyway), there are two of those around my road for a good few months now. Them and the magpie's don't get along though, constantly chasing each other around the rooftops until the magpie leaves.

I thought that too. I spent a year trying to avoid getting stung by a wasp in case I got pregnant!
