McDonald's are recycling the Winning Sips and Monopoly peels with Surprize Fries. Is this the first time they had three different peel promos?

I've always assumed the increase in the amount of these peel promotions has been testing the water around whether to continue the Monopoly game at all. If they're getting a reasonable enough response from running their own inhouse promotions without the name, continuing to pay a licence fee to Hasbro just for the name is going to be less and less attractive. I'd wager there's some bigger 5-10 year contract renewal coming up around that again soon so they'll be looking to either drop it completely or hammer the costs down on it.

Winning Sips was always quite useful if you had the app because some people give you non winning ones that you can add to your collection and you get lots of points which you could redeem for freebies.

Not tried the Surprize Fries yet, it wasn't available when I last went to McDonald's two weeks ago.

I doubt any of it is about dropping Monopoly.

Seems it's all about getting the app on people's phones. There will be millions of the "Have another go on the app" peels out there. It'll increase the downloads and most people won't win on the app but have a silly virtual sticker added to their 'bonus fry' card thing. They'll hope it'll encourage uptake of the loyalty scheme, and in return increase loyalty.

I note the bonus card needs you to scan 10 codes within about a month to get the extra points. Seems they've given up pretending McDonald's should only be enjoyed as part of a balanced diet.

The book we got with a Happy Meal in France was incredibly French - it was a proper hardback picture book about a ballet dancer.

That's why I ignored that promotion. I only use McDonalds once a fortnight usually, simply because I only go when I happen to be in the city centre for something else. So 10 in one month simply wasn't happening.

That branch though, closed yesterday due to a pest infestation!

Good news for the Wendy's on the same street that just opened last week.

I'm quite enjoying seeing the McDonaldland characters back again (though my wife, who has a phobia of Grimace, isn't so much) - but is anyone going to mention the fact that the business is 84 years old, and it's only the 50th birthday of their first UK store?

I suspect that McDonalds might not want to talk about their origins, else people might remember The Founder film that was based on it. See https://www.imdb.com/title/tt4276820/ for info on the film.

I'm pretty sure everyone knows McDonalds existed before 1974.

Great film, heartily recommend it. It's not particularly critical of McDonalds tho, I wouldn't say.

What's your favorite fast food spot? McDonald's has some great options, but I’m curious about other places too. Any recommendations or experiences to share?

Seems suspiciously like an AI rewrite of the first post in the thread. They've done it with the public transport thread too.

I don't even understand the point of having bots that do this.
