I’ve never lived anywhere with such oddly specific crimes since. The SJ gives me a sense of continuity in this fraught world, Nick 😃

I hate to tell you this, but my mate is a press officer for the Wiltshire Police.

Why is this categorised as "Scottish news"? It's about Fatty from the Beano's Bash Street Kids being renamed Freddy (for political correctness reasons, no doubt). Beano isn't only sold in Scotland, so this is national news, not local.

Bash Street is in Dundee tho

More importantly DC Thompson, publishers of the Beano, are a big Dundee company so I can see the logic.

*Bump*

Must be a quiet place if the national news turning up is worthy of a story on the local news:

Meanwhile, journalist who doesn't drink beer goes to a brewery. Seems redundant to have a journalist who doesn't like beer review a brewery takeover...

While not baffling, it certainly is major local news. Its just been announced that one of the local papers around my turf is going to cease trading. After 28 years, The Champion Newspaper, that serves North Liverpool, Southport, and West Lancashire, is going out of business. The paper was a free, weekly paper, which produced 3 different versions serving the aforementioned areas. Its a shame, as it was one of the few independently owned (ie, not owned by The Mirror) local newspapers.

Are Reach's titles even safe? They've got staff on strike right now and freelance NAPA members are boycotting them.

It seems the journalists want a pay rise, but I see my local paper the Hull Daily Mail is now £1.20. Could've sworn it's only been a few months since it went up from £1 to £1.10. Apparently they did the same to another 25 titles. Wouldn't pay rises for staff mean increasing the price yet again, potentially costing them readers?

It seems the Reach-owned Edinburgh Live website is now getting children to write about their day out on a bus: We raced an Edinburgh tram and Lothian bus.

I appreciate these reporters won't be particularly well-paid, but the quality of the writing is dire.

The Reach owned MyLondon has equally awful transport pieces.
TVF's London Lite.
