The 'making life taste better' lorries had stickers covering up the old tagline applied pretty swiftly following Justin King's arrival back in the 00s.

Seemed a bit odd given the stores were still full of own brand stock with the 60s/70s logo for another few years.

Noticed that the Tesco website has been updated for the Metro stores now on which ones are going to a Superstore or Express.

Jesmond, Newcastle Eldon Sq, Rowlands Gill, Durham and Sunderland are going Express
Langley Moor and Carlisle are going Superstore

That's the N East stores so pretty much all the city ones are going Express regardless to size, the Birmingham one people we're discussing earlier is going Express aswell so size seems irrelevant.

Yes, I was surprised to see the Nottingham one is now an Express too, despite being 6 x the size of any of the other Expresses nearby.

It wasn't the old slogan remaining that I was commenting on, more the fact that they weren't using any slogan at all on the new vans.

Dalston, to be precise.

They're currently running 25% off everything (except booze and baby milk) in all their stores, which is quite the loss leader.

Amazon always uses loss leading tactics in order to make money down the line.

Don't have to pay taxes if you don't make money...

Wouldn't Dalston be the second East London store as they have their store in Canary Wharf.

Still avoiding South London although there are whispers of a Fresh Store opening in Southwark.

Good point, I completely forgot about Canary Wharf, but it's in their own little fiefdom there which doesn't really have anything in common with the hipster parts of the East End.

The M&S Food in Westfield Stratford is obviously being used as a bit of a flagship - they're shooting the Christmas ad there. (I found a copy of the shooting script lying around there this morning. It's very Percy-heavy.)
