The DS radio forum hasn't half gone downhill, some of the discussion is really inane and the obsession with Boom Radio bordering on the mildly disturbing.

The Boom thread which I started just to announce the station opening has turned into another LBC style thread where it's loosely based around radio.robschneider wrote: ↑Wed 12 May, 2021 22.38 The DS radio forum hasn't half gone downhill, some of the discussion is really inane and the obsession with Boom Radio bordering on the mildly disturbing.
The problem with the radio section of DS is that it's the last bastion of mainstream radio discussion outside of social media, so it attracts everyone from old anoraks who don't move with the times when it comes to debating modern radio to industry people who either want to big up their side project from their bedroom or those who have worked in the industry still sniping that radio has reformed that doesn't involve them.

I wonder how these people would have coped with the Radio 1 cull of the 90s!Martin Phillp wrote: ↑Sat 15 May, 2021 18.52 The Boom thread which I started just to announce the station opening has turned into another LBC style thread where it's loosely based around radio.

The same as now, It'd be posts like radio is dead, Bannister has destroyed Radio 1 along with long winded posts about how it was all so much better on the pirate ships in the sixties.Jonwo wrote: ↑Sat 15 May, 2021 19.04I wonder how these people would have coped with the Radio 1 cull of the 90s!Martin Phillp wrote: ↑Sat 15 May, 2021 18.52 The Boom thread which I started just to announce the station opening has turned into another LBC style thread where it's loosely based around radio.

Well this is a slightly different way of trotting out the usual "Global & Bauer evil, Boom Radio forever 💕💕💕" bile the anoraks usually spout.

It's very sneery of commercial radio, despite the fact Global and Bauer have millions of listeners to their brands. It's very easy to ignore the premium rate content which has increased since the pandemic as those stations are largely audio wallpaper.robschneider wrote: ↑Sun 30 May, 2021 17.18 Well this is a slightly different way of trotting out the usual "Global & Bauer evil, Boom Radio forever 💕💕💕" bile the anoraks usually spout.
