I've edited the original post to include the appropriate credit.

The most ridiculous thing is Rolling News's strop is because jamesypoo said, shock horror, that there are people who aren't interested in rota talk 😱

I felt inspired to credit my avatar on Television Forum after reading your very kind edit to your post. Maybe it will start a chain of kindness.

I've never (knowingly) been involved in a forum drama before. How thrilling.

I wonder if he's somewhere on the spectrum or just has no sense of humour.

People in the rota thread don’t seem to understand that redundancies are looming and the BBC won’t be coming up with some contrived rota to give everybody a bulletin to present.

For the first time in ages I'm starting to lose interest again in TV Forum. It went through a fantastic spell when we were all on lockdown with loads of nostalgia threads with some really well-informed, interesting discussion about presentation. I feel that there are maybe three or four members, some new and some who have been here a long time, who are collectively sucking the fun out of the place.

They're either throwing strops at the slightest thing or just posting utter drivel about rotas to the level of almost stalking. The actual rota threads are bad enough (constant "OMG!! Reeta's on the Ten!! Maybe that means Huw's in Barbados!" and "I saw him leave on flight 95 out of Heathrow") but this sort of discussion is also seeping into proper threads. I noticed Asa had to slap them down for that recently.

Yesterday I tried to stimulate some presentation-focused discussion about David Lowe's music and audio technology used for broadcast, both of which were completely drowned out by the usual endless presenter/rota speculation and debate about whether X programme will be back soon.

When TVF is good, it's very good. But when it's not, then it can be painful.

Every single thread remotely about BBC News has been like that for a while now, there is about 4 or 5 threads, a few posters treat them like chat rooms, where the discussion just keeps going in circles, predicting who will be presenting today, and how great it was to see presenter A and how they should be on more, how strange it was to see Reeta do the Ten, how it’s the first time she’s done it since Feb 23rd and how it’s only the second time this year, but she’d done it ten times by this time last year, and why didn’t they get Jane Hill to do it, as she isn’t on holiday as she had a week off three weeks ago...

It isn’t just presenter rotas , it’s studio rotas and constant talk about when such and such a studio will return, or when such and such a branded news hour returns, and who will host it, and who will be their cover.

Just wait until September 1st when ‘News at Five’ doesn’t return, there will be hell on
