The administrators of Beales have announced that over half of their stores (12 out of 23) are to close. Closures include Bournemouth, which was their flagship store.
Locally Bedford high street is set to look fairly empty, with the Beales set to close, M&S closing their store last year, and most of the old BHS unit still empty. Probably good news for the Debenhams branch though which for now at least remains open.

Well, whaddaya know - they're moving in to the old Missguided unit. Opens at the end of this month.gottago wrote: ↑Sun 29 Dec, 2019 11.29I asked at the till and she said the plan was to downsize to the old Missguided unit originally but it was decided they'd pull out completely.
I'm surprised Westfield have been so slow to put hoardings over the closed store - usually they'd be in there pretty sharpish to conceal any empty units.
That went well, then.GeekyJames wrote: ↑Tue 14 Jan, 2020 22.27 well luckily the government has given Flyebe a lifeline - https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-51113895
There were a few interesting tweets on Wednesday night, when it was all going to pot. I wonder how much in the way of unpaid landing fees justifies you impounding a plane?
All standalone Carphone Warehouse stores closing. Branches within Currys PC World stay open.

Which would be bad news for Picturehouse, which have rejuvenated old buildings into cinemas, including my area. They close tomorrow until further notice.

Not a massive surprise. I'd presumed Frankie & Benny's would be up against it too but I'm guessing since The Restaurant Group have done their announcement I guess they're safe for now.
I think we could see banks foreclosing on a number of heavily debt laden firms shortly, Intu and Pizza Express spring to mind.
