Also worth noting that many of the CAA chartered flights have been crewed by former Thomas Cook staff who have worked for free to get passengers home.

Here's a great video on why Thomas Cook and so many other airlines go bust at pretty much the same time of year and how a Malaysia Airlines A380 ended up being such a key part of the CAA's repatriation efforts. Highly recommend this YouTube channel generally.
