UPDATE: the multicoloured fascia has been removed. Must've needed planning permission or something.scottishtv wrote: Sat 18 May, 2019 17.47 Not a rebrand, but I noticed my local Homebase has had it's frontage spruced up with a new fascia/banner type thing the length of the store. Presumably it's trying to make the place look more exciting.

Don't really know where to put this but it doesn't need a new thread. Went to B&Q in Aintree last week, and they've removed the self-service checkouts. Looking on Twitter, it appears they've done this in other locations too. Apparently it's because of too many people stealing.
It's not only that, it's also because they're shit. They had to remove the cash because that used to clog up constantly even without the presence of soil, and the software was so flakey people used to get wound up and accidentally not pay for things. It's why they've put effort into doing up the manned checkouts to try and get things added to the belts. Then there is less left on the trolley to focus on.Philip wrote: Thu 03 Oct, 2019 18.45 Don't really know where to put this but it doesn't need a new thread. Did a bit of further research and came across this article from The Times from last month, which features this bit:
B&Q is in the process of removing all self-service tills and Morrisons has paused the wider introduction of its machines after customers complained they found them impersonal.
Which branches of Morrisons don't have them? Even the relatively small ex-Safeway in Rugeley had them a few years ago.Philip wrote: Wed 09 Oct, 2019 16.37 Did a bit of further research and came across this article from The Times from last month, which features this bit:

The previous Morrisons self-checkouts were bloody awful, but the current ones are fine.

I agree that the new Morrisons units are excellent. What is annoying is people who don't bother loading the items from the trolley onto the conveyor belt, or those who decide to stand six inches behind you and start loading their bags onto the bagging area before I've finished taking my items off.Pete wrote: Mon 14 Oct, 2019 13.32sorry thought I'd quoted that.bilky asko wrote: Mon 14 Oct, 2019 11.16What are both Nixdorf models?Pete wrote: Mon 14 Oct, 2019 07.28 both nixdorf models.
