Just read in the paper that Yorkshire and Cyldesdale Banks are being rebranded as Virgin Money.

Complete with a rebrand for Virgin Money in the process judging by this video:

Yikes - that logo is a shocker, far too much going on.

It reminds me of the abby national rebrand. Trying to be trendy when that's not really what you want from a bank.
I bet it changes in a few years.

Its hard to find the advert I wanted. Something about turning banking on its head.

In fairness that second logo might have stuck around a bit longer if Santander hadn't bought them and brought them under their own corporate brand.

I also disagree about people not wanting their bank to be "trendy" - see Starling/Monzo/Revolut/N26, and banks like Smile/Cahoot/First Direct back when they first launched.

Yeah, that Abbey branding was really fresh at the time considering how banks are usually marketed.

BTW I don't think that old old logo there is accurate, it was updated at some point before it was dropped with an updated typeface.

This was announced, widely reported and discussed here a year ago.

Yes, this logo was introduced in 2002 when they dropped Alan Davies from the ads (ironically not a million miles from what Santander uses today).

The umbrella logo was ditched with the previous typeface though.

"Could be the end of the brands" - that's speculation. The fact it's actually happening is new news.

No it isn't - https://www.theguardian.com/business/20 ... -bank-cybg
CYBG said it was committed to moving all of its retail customer business over to the Virgin Money brand. It is theoretically possible that the Clydesdale and Yorkshire brands could be retained for the group’s small and medium-sized business banking division as the Virgin brand is to be tested out on these customers. The rebranding will cost £60m.

That piece is a year old, and still both brands are on the high street.
