Ahh, typical TV Forum- everyone had decided the BBC One idents were just for 2017, without any evidence whatsoever, but it became "fact" on the forum anyway, now they're all angry and annoyed that they're continuing into 2018 as if the "fact" they'd be ending was set in stone and they've been lied to. When the reality it the idea these idents weren't going to continue beyond 2017 never existed anywhere beyond the confines of TV Forum.

Seems to happen far too often on internet forums (not just TVF), where something someone says somehow becomes solid "fact" for no good reason whatsoever.

It's easy to make facts these days - upload a rumour to Wikipedia, then reference it on your form of choice, then cite that post on Wikipedia. Ta da! New facts!

To be fair, it was described as a year-long project at the start.

I always interpreted that as meaning the idents would be made over the year, rather than only last a year.

Well enjoy the warm feeling that you get from being right, however it wasn’t as obvious as you seem to suggest it was.

Nor was it "obvious" that they'd be gone after a year either, which most of TVF presumed and now seem to be getting really angry over.

PC isn't a bad thing sometimes but I disagree the balloons were not diverse or reflective of the times which was the reason for them being scrapped. It's just a balloon flying around the UK minding its own business....
Oh fuck right off.

It’s political correctness gone mad! We’re going to hell in a handcart. Etc etc.
