They probably didn't know the pound coin was changing shape when they designed that logo - they've been caught out.

There's no issue - it's not supposed to be some accurate diagram.

The new branding is similar to the Poundland and More brand using the same yellow disc in the logo. Shame they didn't use the exact same font. Also the designer would have to be ridiculously thick to not know of shape of the new pound coin, so I wouldn't say there been caught out, as if intended tonly represent the pound cointment they would have made it 12 sided.

Hell of a lot of canisters to rebrand! The old one will be around for a while yet.
