Man tried making love to an ambulance in Barnstaple bus station
he was then spotted on CCTV in a phone box setting light to a packet of peanuts while also punching them.
The court heard Ward also approached members of the public who were forced to turn their backs on him and walk away. He then approached a nearby ambulance and spread himself in front of it.

I think the BBC may have got a few comments about their "Jockey in Stable Condition" headline and have now renamed the story "Injured jockey has spine operation"

OAP loses £6000 during trip to supermarket
A Dundee pensioner has been left broken-hearted after she lost £6000 during a trip to the supermarket (writes Debbie Kerr).
What is it with Scottish old people and cash in supermarkets???!

I have to say this site is nothing short of a goldmine for furious local news stories and (more importantly) photos:

Tea sorted thanks to the Tele!

I hope this poem makes your readers smile.
When I was in the Wellgate jist the other day,
I stopped and had a thought: “What will eh get for tea?”
I turned around and there I saw the ladies from the Tele,
I bought the paper happily and went to walk awa’,
“Stop, come back and dinnae be sae silly” I heard the lady say. “Please.......
“Tak a tin o’ beanz meanz Heinz on us and hae them wie some cheese!”
Kind regards. Wendy Smith.

The Tele was offering a tin of Heinz Beanz to readers who purchased the paper in the Wellgate on Monday.

Fresh ideas to help bring city to life

While having lunch recently with family members we got talking about the regeneration of Dundee and what can be done to bring more jobs and tourism to the city.

We came up with a few ideas that our city fathers may find interesting.

Here are some of them —
  • a bowling alley with a fairground / slot machine area;
  • tours of the old city under Dundee; [this doesn't exist]
  • a sea life centre;
  • a Madam [sic] Tussauds, as the city has so many famous people past and present;
  • a millennium wheel;
  • a Dundee dungeon focusing on the city’s violent past;
  • an eatery at the redeveloping Stack Leisure Park; [for reference: this is the stack leisure park. its two previous eateries closed 20 years ago and its bowling alley five years ago. the "redevelopment" is that home bargains has opened in the old bowling alley.]
  • moving HMS Unicorn, to be berthed alongside the Discovery.

We know all this will no doubt be seen as fanciful but we had to have our say! M. Anderson.
