Who's actually going to use this Morrisons Fuel Saver promotion?
From the advert I saw, you're meant to buy gift cards for other retailers at Morrisons (fair enough, most supermarkets offer these) but for every multiple of £10 you buy you get 1p off a litre of Morrisons fuel. Seems like a pretty rubbish deal. But Morrisons are suggesting that you should buy the cards and use for your own everyday spending at the other retailers - rather than give away as gifts.
What a load of convoluted nonsense, especially for a mainstream promotion. Plus any genuine money-consious consumer won't want all their cash tied up in prepaid gift cards, especially if they are counting the pennies.
I can't see this appealing to anyone outside the Martin Lewis "change-your-credit-card/electricity/gas/phone-company-every-3-months-to-save-£4.50-a-year" fan club.
Yet another Morrisons thread
For big purchases it's seriously worthwhile, e.g. if you're going to buy a kitchen/bathroom from Homebase, or some new kit from Currys/PC World. As I understand the promotion, a £1400 gift card gives you £1.40 per litre off, effectively meaning a full tank of fuel for free (worth £140 on a 100 litre tank).

Correct - and it's won the approval of my father.rdobbie wrote:For big purchases it's seriously worthwhile, e.g. if you're going to buy a kitchen/bathroom from Homebase, or some new kit from Currys/PC World. Yeah, hardly a mainstream offer though for a recession. Still seems odd.
I once saw a kitchen being paid for in B&Q with a prize of several £50 gift cards. Suffice to say it was done on a far away till by a person who was eating their lunch at the same time as they waited the increasing length of time for each one to process.

The B&Q tills... I know somebody who does NOT miss them. If one went wrong they all had to be rebooted!Pete wrote:I once saw a kitchen being paid for in B&Q with a prize of several £50 gift cards. They seemed to be sporting a new uniform when I popped into Morrisons earlier. Solid darkish green with the 'M' logo on the back. You'd think they'd have other priorities right now given their recent disappointing figures but hey ho.
Also, uniform fans, expect a new Costa Coffee uniform in the next few weeks.

The new M&S uniform (appearing in store in March) is something to behold... and not in a good way.
Think of the worst green ever and that'll give you a clue.
Meanwhile WTF is with mcdonalds atm and their pick and mix mishmash of a uniform?
