General Android-ness
No BT Openzone access on your HTC Desire? Ah, no, you can access all wifi providers except BTOpenzone. They didn't tell you that when you took your web bolt-on, did they?
No, they didn't.
In fact, just the opposite, in June:
http://www.o2.com/media/press_releases/ ... rchive=yes
"O2 Smartphone Tariffs: All O2 customers will continue to receive unlimited Wi-Fi through The Cloud and BT Openzone hotspots."
Woman on the phone informs me they really meant that BTOpenzone access is for iPhone users only. This after hours of other people at O2 trying to fix and reset things.
EDIT: So far I've been told it's because my MAC address needed reset; it's because my phone number didn't port correctly; because not all BT Openzone hotspots are accessible - only some of them; that it's because I don't have an iPhone; that my phone is faulty and I need to talk to HTC.

I note that the bug with the Desire's weather widget which meant it wouldn't display the weather for Edinburgh is now fixed.
I'm now left wondering how quickly the amusement of watching raindrops trickling down the homescreen will wear off.

Cant' see to get the "Friends Stream" thing working. Is that a widget or an app? How might I un-install it and reinstall it?

I didn't know it was a bug - I was wondering why it wasn't working when I was up in Edinburgh a couple of weeks ago!

Yes, and it was right nice too! It's a while since I visited.
A friend of Mrs Scrooge has a flat next to Holyrood Park and she was up meeting a friend they had met on their travels a few years ago so we made the 3.5 hour drive up to stay for the weekend. Went to the Tower and the Witchery for meals - that sort of thing will always keep me happy!

Lucky to get in at the witchery, especially at this time of year.
Next time I'll shout you both a snifter of ale.
