Did you know anybody who was murdered?

murder is very rarely reported in our local rag, testament to the fact that on the whole it's a pretty rare thing to happen to anybody, however a story which has gotten some national coverage, the murder of a landlady in norfolk - sad for all the usual reasons, but sad also because it's quite hard to believe that somebody you have vague memories of would end up dead and murdered in a freezer, seemingly at the hands of her partner.

(the story was reported here: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/u ... 075849.ece)

so, is murder is as rare as everybody says? do you know anybody who met an untimely end? and how?

Stephen worked at Downtown Radio when I worked there and was less a "bouncer" as described in the story as a club night organiser. No one's ever been caught for his murder.

A lovely lady who lived next door to my auntie for years. In that case, at least there is some comfort in knowing that justice has been done.

I'm afraid in the early 90s I knew three men who were murdered. One I knew well and was fond of, the other two not so much, but they were acquaintances.

Haven't thought of it for a long time. Not a happy time, really.

'Er indoors and I are very good friends with a guy (and his second wife) whose (first) wife was murdered.

That's as close as we get.

No murders in my life. Just a suicide - one of my staff, last month.

Two sisters were killed in a flat directly behind my house a few years back. The killer, Mark Hobson, became Britain's most wanted man for a while.

No one I've personally known has been murdered, but I used to see Rosemary Nelson regularly at church (in the days when I went) and a college friend of one of my cousins was one of those killed in the Omagh bomb.
