A little Heat magazine this, but I've noticed Louise and Jamie Redknapp seem to be raising their profile somewhat - he's fronting a show on Sky (I think), and they're both featuring in a rather lush looking holiday advert for Thomson's.

I don't mind them. He's gorgeous and she seems like a nice girl.

So I'll put my pound on their names to be the media darlings of 2010. When you consider the loss of Ms Goody and that Jordan seems to have become an easy hate figure, there's definitely a gap in the market.

So who's your pick for the year?

With the unspoken caveat that we all hate celebrity culture and are above this kind of thing, of course.

Louise? Ugh, no. That woman's been around for almost two decades - if she was ever going to be properly famous then she'd have done it by now.

I predict that we're going to spend 2010 and 2011 kind of mourning the noughties, and things won't really move on until 2012. Then we'll start to get some new celebs, classier ones hopefully, and new fashion, music and so on, but people are definitely going to be clinging on to the noughties and not wanting to let go for the next couple of years yet. Unfortunately.

I predict that 2010 will be the year that the public well and truly fall out of love with Cheryl Cole. At the same time (and at the risk of making my entire post X Factor-related), I think Dannii Minogue will have a fabulous year once her new solo stuff is released. I think 2010 will be the year that she finally makes it big.

If 2010 could be the year where there were no more celebrities, then that would suit me! When it comes to actors, then it should be about the character they play, not who is playing a role.

What an entirely meaningless paragraph.

How are we "kind of" going to "mourn" the noughties? Give me an example of something that when I see it, will think "oh yes, that's just like Chie said, that's someone who doesn't want to let go of the last arbitrary period of time".

Not to mention NME having to go out of print while they wait for new music to be allowed from 2012 onwards.

I wouldn't kick her out of bed though... she's the only Redknapp I can stand. (Southampton FC supporter) :D

What? So having shit actors is acceptable, as long as they're poorly portraying a brilliantly written character? No. Actors becoming celebrities is something which is perfectly acceptable. There is nothing wrong with David Tennant enjoying huge success and popularity, as he is a talented, versatile actor.

It's completely different when people like Jodie Marsh become celebrities for having plastic tits.
More interested in the roles David Tennant plays, rather than David Tennant himself. I believe the best actors can so envelope themselves within a role, that you dont even realise who is playing the character. Johnny Depp, in Pirates, is so different to Johnny Depp in Edward Scissorhands, or Sweeny Todd.

Go to the theatre. Far more people who most people would probably know nothing about, with hardly any celebrity status, doing a damn good job.

Happy twenty ten.
