I know there are more important news stories occurring at the moment but this is a huge announcement in the world of radio.

talkSPORT = Sky Sports Radio and talkRADIO = Sky News Radio?

Sky News Radio would be interesting.

There already is one, hidden away on one of the transponders. It's the feed to stations for the news on the hour and various other news cuts.

It's what replaced the old "IRN feed".

Gotta say, this is a surprising move by News Corp, and quite frankly, after taking over the Wall Street Journal, nothing should be surprising, but somehow, this is surprising.

Anybody else think that they'd go down the Global route of Local breakfast and drivetime and network the rest of the way?

Sky News replaced ITN as the news provider to IRN a good few years ago. It's still 'IRN' but they just don't brand it that way.

Not everyone at TalkSport is happy about the takeover:

A man of principle. The type of principle that led him to chase the money by leaving the BBC for TalkSPORT in the first place, but still, principle.

Yes, it's still IRN, but what I said was that the feed on Astra, labelled 'SNR', and referred to in the preamble to the news on the hour as "Sky News Radio", replaced the old "IRN feed" on the other commercial satellites.

Leaving company A to go to company B for more money is hardly a lapse of someone's principles. It's how most people move on in their career.

Yes, just because it's a service Alexia isn't a fan of, doesn't mean it's amoral.

It's clearly a more tabloid product than 5 Live Sport, but I think talkSPORT is a real success story.

TalkSport is to Five Live Sport as Classic FM is to Radio Three.
