There are mixed reports of success with a turnip. Of course you're welcome to try at your own risk. I'd advise having a tin of marrowfat peas to hand just for safety reasons.

Ah, this is because of the Cornish problem.

In Cornwall, of course, a swede is a turnip, so the problem arises.
