That's a daily limit, I trust.
Not being a customer of a bank with a £500 or higher daily limit on my account, I have been unable to find out.

In any case, I withdrew my £300 from the Barclays machine instead.

Let me explain...
The daily ATM withdrawal limit for my account is £300 (some are higher, e.g. Lloyds Bank).
The withdrawal limit for this NoteMachine ATM was £250 for the transaction.
It was the first hole in the wall ATM I've seen with a machine limit lower than my account limit.

On another note, I remembered that my local WHSmith has a Cashzone machine.

When they first took over the ex-Co-operative Bank ATMs in Co-op stores they had the worst UI - it's since been updated to match their other ATMs. My best guess is that those ATMs are Wincor Nixdorf and so they had to rush to make it work with their systems - almost all of their others are NCR in my experience.

On another ATM related note, I wonder how many ATMs still run ancient OSes - OS/2, NT 4.0, 2000, XP Embedded? I imagine a lot run Windows 7 Embedded but even it's days are numbered - support ends in 2 years.

Yeah, Yorkshire Bank's limit is £350 a day.

That's Cashzone isn't it? Note Machine are the ones who have taken over (amongst others) most of the England & Wales RBS branch cash machines.

It's normally a bit more nuanced than that -

A number of the XP machines are running 'POSready 2009', which is sold as a version of Windows Embedded but actually is a pretty light repackage of standard XP Pro (they didn't even bother to change the splash screen). It is still supported with updates (albeit only for another year).

Indeed, astonishing really that Microsoft thought it okay to needlessly repackage an 8 year old OS, though I'm sure they got plenty of cash out of it to keep lots of old kit going.

There must be loads and loads of devices beyond ATMs (EPOS, banking systems etc.) that will be running Posready/7 Embedded beyond their end of support date. It's like XP all over again! The other thing is that lots of stuff was migrated to 7 in 2013/2014 instead of 8/8.1 Embedded which would have added an extra 3 years of support - presumably to play it safer.
