There is no such thing as an "Express and Star journalist".

The New Day did NOT go up to 50p. It's still 25p. Looks like they extended the trial price... perhaps because nobody's buying it?

As for The Sun, it's not the price that's hard to justify, it's the percentage of the increase. Costs should not have increased 25%, so neither should the price.

There are money off coupons in the Daily Mirror for The New Day. Not looking great for Trinity Mirror.

Those coupons (which are actually to get the paper for free) have also been appearing in the Hull Daily Mail (which is NOT owned by the Mirror) almost every day for the last two weeks. They're getting desperate. Fair to say the New Day is a flop.

The Hull Daily Mail has been owned by a Trinity Mirror subsidiary since 2012.

The Mirror coupons are 25p off the cover price.

On Facebook, they've been doing videos asking for 'reader' suggestions and there have been some slight tweaks to the paper. Yet the criticism appears to be that they're too much like a women's weekly magazine than a newspaper.

That didn't last very long! Not that anyone expected it to. Was hardly a good time to launch a new paper.

Wow, alive for just over two months. Have any other national newspapers had such a disastrously short run?

One of the things that struck me about the launch, which came out of nowhere, was how they were going on about how this would give advertisers access to readers who haven't read the traditional papers for sometime. But they never actually gave any reason for those readers to buy the paper. There was nothing particularly original or appealing about their offer, it all seemed incredibly ill-thought out.

Editorially, they got it wrong from day 1 and readers simply didn't come back.

I found the layout hard to read. Compared to the iPaper which treats their readers with some intelligence, it was poor and treated their remaining readers with contempt.

The concept was challenging, but there simply wasn't an audience for it, not to mention the lack of a digital presence.
